Most of Lyon County's major shopping and dining destinations are located along US-62, a major highway that runs throughout Eddyville and Kuttawa. Here, you'll find various familiar chains, as well as smaller businesses and the Eddyville Mall.

Parks and recreation
Lyon County residents love spending time in the great outdoors, and it's easy to see why. Here, you'll be a stone's throw away from some of Kentucky's best natural destinations, including the popular Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. This 171,280-acre green space houses a robust population of American bison, and visitors can also take advantage of the park's hiking trails, boat launches, and numerous campgrounds.
Children living in the area are served by Lyon County Schools, which operates four institutions in Eddyville. In total, the district has an enrollment of around 956 and boasts a low student-to-teacher ratio of just 18:1. The district has also achieved a graduation rate of 95%, and a majority of students score well on both reading and mathematics exams.
